FAQ
What is the difference between Investment Casting and Sand Casting?
Investment casting (lost wax) offers superior surface finish (Ra 3.2-6.3 μm) and tighter tolerances, making it ideal for complex, smaller parts. Sand casting is more cost-effective for larger, heavier components where surface texture is less critical.
Can you achieve a tolerance of $\pm 0.05$ mm for all casting parts?
While standard casting tolerances are typically wider, we achieve precision up to $\pm 0.05$ mm through our secondary CNC machining services. This ensures critical dimensions like holes and mating surfaces meet your exact engineering requirements.
Do I need to pay for the mold (tooling) upfront?
Yes, custom casting requires a dedicated mold. However, at HDC, we optimize mold design to be durable for long-term production. For high-volume orders, the initial tooling cost is often offset by the lower per-unit price.
What materials can HDC use for custom casting?
We work with over 20+ materials, including Stainless Steel (304, 316), Carbon Steel, Aluminum Alloys, and heat-resistant Superalloy. Every batch comes with a material certification report upon request.
