Weld-On Hinge by Type / Structure
We manufacture a wide range of weld-on hinges to meet the needs of gates, trailers, containers, and industrial equipment.
Bullet Hinge
A compact, heavy-duty hinge often seen on metal gates and toolboxes—rugged design with optional grease fittings for smoother swing.
Barrel Hinge
Built for heavy doors and gates, this larger hinge adds rectangular mounting pads for better load support.
Butt Hinge/Blank Hinge
Weldable version of the classic butt hinge—thicker, stronger, and perfect for steel doors that can’t use screws.
Ramp Hinge
Designed to handle weight and motion, this hinge works well on trailers, ramps, and other mobile structures.
Sleeve Hinge
Ideal for round tube gates. One sleeve welds to the post, and the gate pivots freely over it.
Piano Hinge
Long and continuous for even load support—now available in weld-on style for enclosures and metal panels.
Weld-On Hinge by Material
We mainly work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum for the weld-on hinge. Custom material is also available based on your requirements.
Carbon Steel
Strong and cost-effective. Ideal for heavy-duty use where surface coating will be applied.
Stainless Steel (304/316)
Clean look with great rust resistance. A solid choice for outdoor or marine environments.
Weld-On Hinge by Surface Finish
We manufacture a wide range of weld-on hinges to meet the needs of gates, trailers, containers, and industrial equipment.
Powder Coating
Strong and cost-effective. Ideal for heavy-duty use where surface coating will be applied.
Zinc Plated
Simple corrosion protection with a clean, metallic look. Often used for carbon steel hinges.
How HDC Manufacture Weld-On Hinge
We use a range of manufacturing methods to produce all types of weld-on hinges — from simple sleeves to heavy-duty bullet hinges. Here’s how we do it:
1. Cutting
Every hinge starts with raw material.
- Solid bar cutting – Used for bullet and barrel hinges. We cut solid rods to the right length before machining.
- Tube cutting – For sleeve hinges, we simply cut steel tubes and collars to your size.
- Sheet cutting – Butt and piano hinges begin as metal plates. We use laser cutting or shearing to shape the blanks.
2. Stamping and Bending
Mainly for butt and piano hinges.
- We stamp out leaf shapes from flat metal.
- Then we form knuckles (the round parts that hold the pin) using precision bending machines.
3. CNC Turning
Essential for bullet and barrel hinges.
- We machine the pin side and sleeve side of the hinge from solid stock.
- Add grease fittings if needed.
- Some designs include tapered or cone-shaped tips — these are CNC-turned or pre-forged for strength and precision.
4. Welding & Assembly
Final touches before shipping.
- Barrel hinges often need base plates welded on for mounting.
- We assemble the hinge leaf and pin, check the fit, and apply lubrication if required.

How to Choose the Right Weld-on Hinge
Choosing the right hinge isn’t complicated—you just need to match it to the job. Here’s how we usually help our customers decide:
1. What are you welding it to?
For square frames or flat plates, butt-style or barrel hinges work well.
If it’s a round pipe or tube, pipe gate hinges or bullet hinges are the better fit.
2. How heavy is the door or panel?
Light to medium? Bullet or butt-style is usually enough.
Heavy-duty gates or ramps? Go with barrel or ramp hinges—they’re made for load.
3. Will it be outdoors or near the sea?
If yes, stainless steel is your friend—less rust, less worry.
For general use, carbon steel is strong and economical (we can coat it for you).
Need something lightweight? Aluminum does the job and keeps the weight down.
4. How often will it move?
If it’s opening all the time, ask for grease fittings—they’ll help it last longer and move smoother.
5. Any specific pin needs?
We offer steel, stainless, or brass pins, depending on how much strength or corrosion resistance you need.
